The lower and the upper halfsword guard.

About halfsword:

The halfsword techniques are very important for fighting in a exoskeleton of sword proof steel. in halfsword fighting, the grip of the longsword is held in the right hand and the left hand gasps the center of the blade, this center was not razor sharp, but can cut very well. so you turning the sword into a short thrusting spear. The swords point is the most important part of the weapon when fighting an armoured man, and the point of a longsword is razor sharp - by the late 14th. century, plate armour defenses had mitigated most effects from hacking blow delivered with a swords edge. Because of this, the point is usually kept forward to menace the opponent and hence the usual left leg leads. Halfsword techniques concentrate on finding gaps in the armour and occasionally using the sword as a lever for grappling with the opponent.

Halbschwert is always so hard for me to adopt naturally during free sparing, it drives me crazy. I'm still not used to fighting in plate and It's the last thing I think of. More training for me, lol.

Great photos.
